Garfield Ridge Stars and Stripes 5k

The Garfield Ridge Civic League is proudly sponsoring the 2023 Stars and Stripes 5k taking place on July 1, 2023

The race was created in 2017 in honor of our fallen First Responders and Military Personnel. Each year donations are made to three fabulous organizations that have proven to be there for families of fallen heroes: The Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, The 100 Club of Chicago and The Wounded Warrior Project. Honorees of the past were P.O. Benjamin Perez, CFD Juan Bucio, CMDR Paul Bauer, and The First Responders of 911.  The 2023 race will be in honor of P.O. Ella French.

Police Officer Ella Grace French, Star #15013, aged 29 years, was a 3 year, 3 month, 22 day veteran of the Chicago Police Department, assigned to the 10th District – Ogden and detailed to Unit 716 – Community Safety Team (CST).  On August 7, 2021, Officer French died in the line of duty.  She was survived by her mother, Elizabeth and brothers: Andrew, Christian, Julian and Michael.
